Taigi Talk is a free tool for learning Taiwanese. It is not funded by advertising and it does not sell, rent or share anything about you with anyone.
What is collected
Only if you choose to create an account:
- Your email address — to identify your account and to send you a confirmation link or a password reset if you ask for one.
- Your name — used only to greet you in the app. A nickname is fine.
- Your lesson progress — which lessons you have started or finished, so it follows you between your phone and your computer.
Your password is never visible to this site. It goes directly to our authentication provider, which stores only a cryptographic hash of it. Nobody, including us, can read it.
Without an account, nothing leaves your device. Your progress is kept in your own browser's storage and never sent anywhere.
What is not collected
There are no advertising trackers, no analytics scripts, no cookies for tracking, and no third-party embeds. Your date of birth, location and contacts are never asked for.
Who else is involved
- Supabase stores the account and progress data described above.
- Our web host serves the pages, and like every web server keeps short-lived request logs that may include your IP address.
Both are service providers acting on our behalf, not independent recipients of your data.
How long it is kept
Until you delete your account, at which point your profile and your progress are removed permanently.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for your account and everything in it to be deleted. Email hello@taigitalk.com and it will be done. If you are in the UK or the EU, these are your rights under the GDPR, and you may also complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
Taigi Talk is not directed at children under 13, and accounts are not knowingly created for them. Anyone can use the lessons without an account, and doing so sends nothing anywhere.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top will change and anyone with an account will be told by email.
